Rome

November 8, 2017 by runalittlestories

Have you heard of “What a small world!” phrase? I feel that you have. This is the perfect phrase for my time in Rome. Let the story begins. I arrived in Roma Termini Train Station from Florence around afternoon and planed to leave on the next day. I went to Rome several years ago and visited its various famous landmarks, including a day trip to Vatican City. Today, I didn’t feel the need to explore more. And for the practicality […]

Florence and personal pause

June 18, 2017 by runalittlestories

Florence was a beautiful city with its mesmerising architecture and vibe. I remembered walk down from Florence Central Station to the Cathedral and found a giant advertising board of renowned smartphone brand that said : More than just a smartphone. In my mind, yes, its more than just a phone, it could explode too. (Try to remember which brand had battery issues in late 2016 and you know what i meant) The weather was not great, but not so bad […]

Cinque Terre

May 14, 2017 by runalittlestories

The next stop was La Spezia, my camp for Cinque Terre visit in next three days. A bit about Cinque Terre and why i decided to do a bit detour to the left side of the map from Bologna. Cinque Terre is literally translated as Five Lands. Its five villages on the coast of Italian Riviera: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. All of this area is part of the Cinque Terre National Park and also a UNESCO Heritage Site. […]

Bologna

April 23, 2017 by runalittlestories

Bologna was another hop on hop off city for me. Like Milan, i only spent one night here. Another one strange night. Not like Milan, I had a tour guide here, Fulvio. He was my colleague back in Melbourne. He was also my Italian-practice buddy. We usually greeted each other with this: Him : Buon Giorno, Maria (Good Morning, Maria) Me : Buon Giorno. Come sta? (Good Morning, how are you?) Him : Bene, e tu? (Good, and you?) Me […]

Venice

April 16, 2017 by runalittlestories

For every loss, there is hidden gain. And for every gain, there is hidden loss. A quote from Hazrat Inayat Khan is the perfect way to describe my solo trip in Venice last autumn. Unexpected gain behind a hidden loss that i couldn’t not foresee beforehand. Venice has many names. La Serenissima. City of Water. La Dominante. City of Canals. But, my favourite one is ‘The Floating City’. The fact that this city is built on top of water amazed […]

Verona

April 9, 2017 by runalittlestories

Here is a secret for you; Verona is geographically a city of love. No, its not from “Romeo and Juliet” or “Shakespeare”. It is from its city map. Look into my featured image; i left big mark there. I hope you see it. That was my first reaction when my Airbnb’s host explained city of Verona with me using her city map. She said, “Wow. I never thought like that.” It was almost dark when i arrived in Verona. Guided […]

Milan

March 12, 2017 by runalittlestories

I went to Milan using direct flight from Merignac Airport Bordeaux to Milan Malpensa Airport. I didn’t plan to spend much time here. Therefore, once i arrived in Milan, i went straight to Milano Centrale Station and deposited my backpack for about 12 hours. It was not even one day, only 12 hours before i departed to Verona. How could i experience Milan for only 12 hours? Lets start the clock now, on 5 pm in the afternoon. My intention was to […]

Bordeaux

February 27, 2017 by runalittlestories

My journey in Bordeaux started when i took a bus from Paris to Bordeaux. It was 8 hours bus. I chose bus simply because its cheaper than train. Indeed, it was a good decision. I met my first stranger here. Let’s call him Paul. He said “Hi” to me in French, then I asked if he spoke English. He did. He was Canadian who live in Quebec – a city that spoke Quebec French in Canada. I knew about Quebec because […]

Plum Village : My Contemplation

February 5, 2017 by runalittlestories

con·tem·pla·tion ˌkän(t)əmˈplāSH(ə)n/ noun            the action of looking thoughtfully at something for a long time; deep reflective thought; the state of being thought about or planned.   I heard about mindfulness since a few years back from books. Every single time i went to a bookstore, i either went to “Self-help” section (where usually mindfulness book were placed) or business section to find something interesting. Read someone’s ideas, especially about life. One of my best friends even […]
